"The night before the first official broadcast on FM (first FM broadcast and Wellington, and second in NZ), were were unofficially broadcasting for two of the team who were driving round Wellington marking on a map all the locations they were able to pick up the station on the car radio. They came back to the studio, and one of them triumphantly planted the gumboot on the map, and said, “That’s our coverage area.” Not the most scientific of measurements, but we got the picture."
