Live On Location: Japes

Presenting: Japes Live

Japes is the alias of songwriter, producer, DJ and radio host Mia Kelly. She came onto the scene with the release of her debut ep ‘JUNK’ earlier this year, and has just released a track on Strange Behaviour’s latest compilation album. Check out her cosy live debut, filmed in the comfort of her mates flat.

“The track “Ode to Mary” was surprisingly everyone's favourite off the EP, so I decided to make it the single. It is a mantra for myself, a mantra for deciding to choose your own path above what others think” - Japes.

Along with this is a performance of “IFDITHOH”, a unreleased song written back in 2019 which she has transformed into a live looping piece. You can find this here: https://youtu.be/sJR4-vwvJWQ

“I was inspired by the many live sessions that are coming out online as a result of Covid. I think it's a really cool medium to build an aesthetic around your sound and create more of an experience to the music” - Japes.
